The latest increases in heating oil, fuel oil and diesel have made the theft of oil and diesel a much more profitable business. We have heard of many incidences where coach, bus, lorry and even car petrol tanks being emptied. Apart from the cost of the fuel the tanks are normally damaged and need replacing meaning a cost of £1000 including the fuel for a lorry or coach. Worse still is that the vehicle can be off the road for a few days whilst repairs are carried out. Theft of domestic fuel is also on the increase.
